Reiki Energy Healings

Reiki (pronounced “ray-key”) is a laying on of hands healing technique probably thousands of years old. It is thought to have first been used by Tibetan Buddhist monks but was re-discovered in the late 1800’s by Dr. Mikao Usui, a Japanese Buddhist.

“Rei” means “universal”, and Kanji (Japanese characters) can have several meanings it can be interpreted as “spiritual consciousness.”

“Ki” is “life force.”  It is different words in different cultures – Prana in Sanskrit, Mana in Hawaiian and Chi in Chinese.  Reiki is a non-physical energy that animates and flows through all living beings.  It is believed to be the energy associated with our thoughts, emotions and spiritual existence.  Ki is employed by all healers regardless of their cultural background or discipline and is present all around us. It is an energy, which can be harnessed by the body and guided by the mind.

Reiki is a special kind of life force that can be more clearly channelled after someone has been “attuned” to its energy.  Once attuned, the channel will remain open and energy is available to be used by the healer for the rest of their life.  Reiki energy can be called upon by anyone who seeks it.

Reiki has its own intelligence and knows exactly where to go and what to do – both for the healer and the recipient.  Once attuned, a Reiki practitioner simply places their hands on the person or animal requiring healing and the energy will flow to the area where it is most needed.  Reiki is a powerful tool when used in assisting one’s own spiritual progression and will lift one’s vibrations, which in turn benefits others and ultimately mankind and the planet earth.

Every Reiki treatment is different and those receiving may have different sensations such as increased warmth or cold or tingling.  Most have a feeling of deep relaxation and will receive the correct amount of energy to start the healing process and restore balance.

Reiki is a wonderful healing option for animals since it can be done “hands off”. As Reiki calls upon the Universal Energy source, not all healings need to be done “in person” since this energy can be directed anywhere in the universe. Since the Reiki energy can be called on and directed anywhere in the universe – Reiki treatments can be done at a distance (not in the personal presence).

Other uses of Reiki include Energy Clearing. Useful for when you buy a new home, move into a new office or perhaps just to rid your area of negative energy. All very helpful when you just can’t seem to shake that bad luck you’re having.

Treatments typically last 1 hour, but can vary depending on the situation.  When doing a treatment on an animal, this duration varies greatly.
